The Twin City Hockey Skating School offers programs throughout the year for skaters of all levels- We are Kitchener-Waterloo's Non-Profit Power Skating Program, certified by Skate Canada.
Important Note: Participants for all Twin City Hockey Skating School programs are required to possess basic skating skills, including forward and backward skating, and the ability to stop on command without using the boards.

Private Lessons / Open Sessions
The Club also offers Open Power Sessions. These skaters may or may not be KWSC members. These are offered based on coach availability. Skaters must speak to a KWSC Power coach before registering in an Open Power session. All those registering for an Open Power Session do so online in the KWSC Membership System.
PRICE
Open Power Session = $21 per session
All skaters joining an Open Session must have a valid Skate Canada Membership. You will be prompted to pay this when you register for a program or an open session.

CanPowerSkate
CanPowerSkate is an action-packed, high energy instructional power skating program that focuses on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance, and is geared toward hockey and ringette skaters. Skills, techniques and conditioning drills are taught in a progressive format that emphasizes how the skills apply to game situations. CanPowerSkate provides an alternative to figure skating, and is an excellent complement for those athletes playing on hockey or ringette teams. The unique skill award program provides incentives and motivation for skaters to continue to achieve.
For safety reasons, participants must wear full hockey/ringette equipment that is CSA approved. The coach to skater ratio is 1:8.
POWER 1: This program is designed to introduce hockey and ringette skaters to specific skating skills to ensure proper skating techniques. Typical level of skater is as follows:
U7, U8, U9 House league
Must be able to skate forward, backward and stop
Private lessons are available and booked upon request with the power skating coach.
POWER 2: This program is designed to target a more defined skill set for hockey and ringette. Typical level of skater is as follows:
U8, U9, U10, U11, A, Select, MD, Advanced House league
Skaters must have proficient skating skills with forward and backward crossovers. Edgework, agility and balance is the focus in combination with drills.
Private lessons are available and booked upon request with the power skating coach.
POWER 3/4: This program is designed to teach specific advanced skills for the elite hockey and ringette players. Typical level of skater is as follows:
U10, U11, U12, U13, U14 AA, AAA
Skaters will have well established advanced skating skills. Elite edgework, agility and balance drills will be worked on in conjunction with hockey and ringette drills.
Private lessons are available and booked upon request with the power skating coach.
For Fall programs, ages are as of October 1, 2023. All sessions are based on availability and skaters are grouped by ability. It is at the discretion of the instructor to move skaters up or down to the appropriate sessions when needed.
